Learn about how these folks do business!

Should you do business with this company? SOME FACTS:

A Dangerous Vehicle

On 11/1/2025, a 2022 Jeep Wagoneer was rear-eneded after a mechanical failure.  The auto-stop-start feature failed while idling at a red light, causing the vehicle to need a complete re-ignition.  After restarting and moving forward, the vehicle activated the emergency brakes WHILE THE GAS PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, after which the vehicle was rear-ended.

Vehicle Drop-off

Around 11/3 the Wagoneer was delivered to Lake Norman Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM (CDJR) for analysis after the accident.  After several days of holding the vehicle, the Service Department was unable to provide any explanation for the mechanical failures.  At this point, they were informed the owner "no longer wanted to drive the deathtrap", and the vehicle was referred to the Sales Department for a potential sale.

Repair Quote & Offer

The Wagoneer was then delivered by Lake Norman CDJR employees to their preferred repair shop, in order to help the owners make an insurance claim.  On 11/7/2025, Lake Norman CDJR contacted the owner and made an offer of "$33,000, as-is" to the owners.  Curiously, this employee refused the request to provide this offer in writing.

Second Repair Quote

Carolina Customs, the Lake Norman CDJR preferred repair shop, is unable to make a firm repair quote, for reasons not fully explained.  The owners pickup the damaged vehicle, also on 11/7, and drive it to another repair shop to get a full repair estimate for insurance.

Accepted Offer & Insurance Settlement

On 11/17, an Acquisition Manager from Lake Norman CDJR called to discuss the potential purchase, and the owners accept the offer of "$33,000, as-is".  During the week of 11/17-11/20, numerous text messages are exchanged to discuss paperwork, title, and delivery of the vehicle back to Lake Norman CDJR. The owners also relied on this verbal contract to settle with the insurance company (believing that Lake Norman CDJR would keep its word) and acquire a replacement vehicle.

Unacceptable Behavior

The Wagoneer was delivered back to the dealership on 11/20, at which point the dealership reversed course and refused to complete the purchase.  The dealership staff claimed that the damage had been "undisclosed" despite being fully aware, and insisted there was no contract.  The Dealer Operator refused to acknowledge any of the above facts and simply stated Lake Norman CDJR "will not be purchasing the vehicle".  While trying to get Lake Norman to keep their word, the Customer Service Manager even threated to have the Wagoneer towed from their property!

OPINIONS: WHY WOULD THEY BEHAVE THIS WAY?

It's clear that Lake Norman CDJR Lies, but why?  Did they simply screw up the amount they offered and choose to weasel out of the deal because they thought they could get away with it?  At least one person speculated something changed when the Wagoneer was taken to another shop where all would be reported to CarFax...
